About Pat Pound

Pat is a consultant with Open Doors Organization (ODO) focusing on blindness related issues such as web and mobile accessibility and the air travel experience for travelers with vision loss and those with service dogs. Pat has worked closely with ODO to test airline and airport websites and mobile apps for accessibility, provided guidance to travelers and industry representatives alike on how to best travel as and assist travelers with vision loss and service dogs, and took part in multiple Transportation Research Board projects focused on accessibility in air travel including ACRP Report 210 Innovative Solutions to Facilitate Accessibility for Airport Travelers with Disabilities and ACRP Report 177 Enhancing Airport Wayfinding for Travelers with Disabilities and Older Adults.

During Pat’s career, she served as Executive Director of the Texas Governor’s Committee on People with Disabilities and as a Presidential Appointee to the National Council on Disability, where she impacted various disability research projects and issues. She has been involved in technology, using various screen readers and devices over the past thirty years.
