Red Green Repeat Adventures of a Spec Driven Junkie

Coffee is Everywhere in Society

When I was younger, I got my teeth whitened for my wedding. The process was BRUTAL!

I had braces done when I was younger and all of my wisdom teeth removed within a week. I thought that was the most pain I would have on my teeth.

Getting my teeth whitened was rougher.

For braces and my wisdom teeth - those were unavoidable because of genetics.

My teeth whitening - that was because of one thing: COFFEE!

Vowing Off Coffee

At the time, I drank coffee and my teeth showed.

After the experience with teeth whitening, I vowed off coffee.

Little did I know - vowing off coffee as a young single guy is HARD!

Coffee is Everywhere in Society

Coffee is everywhere in society. From basic functionality - “Feeling tired? Have a coffee!” To social norm: “Let’s meetup for coffee”

As a single guy, asking someone I have interest with to go for a coffee is innocent. Asking them to goto a bar would be suspect.

Even getting a drink to warm up - more than 70% of warm drinks sold are coffee based! The other: tea - which is also just as bad for the teeth as coffee!

Resistance is Futile

I resisted coffee for a long time - until after my wedding day. I definitely felt not drinking coffee made me different from society.

That’s when I learned - coffee is part of society in a deep way.

When I started drinking coffee again, I went all in. From getting the gear, roasting my own coffee, to even sourcing the beans myself.

I learned to brush my teeth - a lot! And I found a way to whiten my teeth that wasn’t as painful.
