Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS) Optimized Writes can now be enabled for your current RDS for MySQL and RDS for MariaDB database instances and promoted to production in as fast as a minute using RDS Blue/Green deployments. RDS Optimized Writes can improve up to 2x write throughout for your databases.
To enable optimized writes for your existing database instances, simply specify optimized writes enabled database instances when creating Blue/Green Deployments, which automatically creates the green environment with optimized writes enabled. You can then test optimized writes in the green environment, keeping your current production database safe. With a single click, you can promote the green environment to be the new production system, with no changes to your application and no data loss.
Amazon RDS Optimized Writes is available for RDS for MySQL version 8.0.30 and higher, and RDS for MariaDB version 10.6.10 and higher. Amazon RDS Optimized Writes and RDS Blue/Green Deployments are available in all applicable AWS regions.
