Update: Sleep Habits
I am focusing on improving my sleep - in quantity and quality.
Before, I averaged 6.5hrs per night, went to bed at 22:00, woke up around 04:30, and did not fresh.
Currently, (or at least this week) I average 7.5, going to bed at 21:00, waking up around 06:00, and feel fresh.
I changed my pre-sleep ritual from 2 steps to 3. The steps before
My current pre-sleep ritual:
- 5 minute meditation
- Lay down in bed
- Recall the day from the moment I woke up
The third step is essential to slow down my mind. When I am not tired, I would just lay down thinking and thinking about other things. By recalling my day, I actively engage multiple parts of my brain in a calm manner. I believe this is a kind of meditation as well.
Honestly, getting myself to sleep more than 6.5hrs at a time is a win. When I would go to bed early, I’d just get up 6.5hrs later. Now I can return to sleep after waking up (or just not wake up at 6.5hrs mark.)
