Amazon Aurora R6i database instances are now generally available in the Europe (Frankfurt) Region for Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL- Compatible Edition and Amazon Aurora MySQL-Compatible Edition.
R6i instances are the 6th generation of Amazon EC2 memory optimized instances, designed for memory-intensive workloads. Amazon EC2 R6i instances deliver better compute performance, more network bandwidth, and higher packet processing performance versus comparable Amazon EC2 R5 instances. To meet customer demands for increased scalability, R6i instances provide a new instance size of 32xlarge with 128 vCPUs and 1,024 GiB of memory.
You can launch Intel R6i database instances in the Amazon RDS Management Console or using the AWS CLI. The R6i database instances are supported on Aurora MySQL 2.11.0, 3.02.1 and higher versions, and on Aurora PostgreSQL 12.9, 13.5, 14.3 and higher versions. Upgrading a database instance to R6i requires a simple instance type modification, using the same steps as any other instance modification. For more details, refer to the Aurora documentation.
