AWS Mainframe Modernization is now a Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) eligible service, enabling covered entities and their business associates to use AWS Mainframe Modernization to process, maintain, and store protected health information. If you have an executed Business Associate Addendum (BAA) with AWS, you can now use AWS Mainframe Modernization for workloads that are subject to HIPAA compliance.

AWS Mainframe Modernization service allows you to modernize and migrate on-premise mainframe applications to AWS Cloud native fully-managed runtime. For the modernization, it enables modernization patterns like refactor and replatform, as well as augmentation patterns supported by data replication and file transfer. With HIPAA eligibility, healthcare and life sciences companies can use the service to modernize mainframe based applications or leverage mainframe-based data with AWS Cloud based applications to improve patient care, streamline clinical processes, and accelerate claims processing.

AWS Mainframe Modernization is generally available in the following AWS Regions: US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (N. California, Oregon), Asia Pacific (Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), Canada (Central), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Paris), and South America (São Paulo).
