Starting today, Amazon EC2 M6g, M6gd, C6g, and R6g instances powered by AWS Graviton2 processors are available in Asia Pacific (Jakarta) region. AWS Graviton2-based instances provide up to 40% better price performance over comparable x86-based instances. M6g and M6gd instances are ideal for general purpose workloads such as application servers, microservices, mid-size data stores, and caching fleets. C6g instances are ideal for compute-intensive workloads such as high performance computing (HPC), batch processing, ad serving, video encoding, gaming, distributed analytics, and CPU-based machine learning. The local SSD storage provided on M6gd instances is ideal for applications that need access to high-speed, low latency storage of data such as caching, logs, and scratch files. R6g instances are ideal for memory-intensive applications such as open-source databases, in-memory caches, and real time big data analytics.
These instances are built on the AWS Nitro System, that offloads many of the traditional virtualization functions to dedicated hardware, delivering high performance, high availability, and highly-secure cloud instances. These instances and offer up to 25 Gbps of network bandwidth, and up to 19 Gbps of bandwidth to the Amazon Elastic Block Store (Amazon EBS). The M6gd instances also offer up to 3.8 TB of NVMe-based SSD storage.
AWS Graviton-based instances are supported by many Linux operating systems and several popular services for security, monitoring and management, containers, and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) from AWS as well as partners. With this regional expansion, Amazon EC2 M6g, C6g, R6g instances are now available across US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (N. California, Oregon), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong, Jakarta, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo, Seoul), Canada (Central), China (Beijing, operated by Sinnet), and China (Ningxia, operated by NWCD), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Milan, Paris, Stockholm), South America (São Paulo), and AWS GovCloud (US) regions. Additionally, Amazon EC2 M6g and C6g are also available in Middle East (Bahrain) region and C6g is also available in Asia Pacific (Osaka) region. Amazon EC2 M6gd is now available across AWS US East (Ohio, N. Virginia), US West (N. California, Oregon), Asia Pacific (Jakarta, Mumbai, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo), Europe (Frankfurt, Ireland, London, Stockholm) regions. All instances are available in 8 sizes, with 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 48, and 64 vCPUs in addition to the bare metal option. These instances are purchasable On-Demand, as Reserved instances, as Spot instances, or as part of Savings Plans.
