AWS Systems Manager now supports up to 500 concurrent Automation executions, enabling you to automate operational tasks, such as patching instances on a larger scale. If you enable adaptive higher concurrency, Automation will automatically increase or decrease the concurrency quota based on the scaling requirements. You can enable adaptive higher concurrency from the Automation Preferences tab.

You can use Systems Manager Automation to author runbooks to execute common IT tasks, such as patching or restarting instances, at scale with rate controls. You can now execute these tasks on a large fleet of instances at a higher concurrency.

This feature is available at no additional charge in all AWS Regions where AWS Systems Manager is offered, except China Regions and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions. For more information about Automation, visit the Systems Manager Automation documentation.
