With Amazon Interactive Video Service (Amazon IVS) you can now monitor the health of your live stream inputs using four new Amazon CloudWatch metrics and two new APIs. These metrics and APIs can help you diagnose and troubleshoot issues with live streams either as they happen or after the streams have ended. You can also use APIs from Amazon IVS and Amazon CloudWatch to embed data into your own dashboard or application.

This release brings configuration data from the encoder sending the stream, metrics from the infrastructure receiving the stream, and events from the stream processing pipeline to give you visibility into the health of live stream inputs. You can use the encoder configuration to monitor how streamers have set up their broadcasting hardware or software and determine if a misconfiguration is causing issues. The new CloudWatch metrics offer insights into key information including video and audio bitrate, frame rate, and keyframe interval from the stream which you can monitor to determine if Amazon IVS is consistently receiving data from the encoder. Finally, you can track stream events and set up alerts when streams encounter events such as when video data stops being transmitted to Amazon IVS.

Amazon Interactive Video Service (Amazon IVS) is a managed live streaming solution that is quick and easy to set up, and ideal for creating interactive video experiences. Send your live streams to Amazon IVS using standard streaming software like Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) and the service does everything you need to make low-latency live video available to any viewer around the world, letting you focus on building interactive experiences alongside the live video.

The Amazon IVS console and APIs for control and creation of video stream resources are available in the US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Ireland) regions. Video ingest and delivery are available around the world over a managed network of infrastructure optimized for live video.
