When You are a Manager

In this week’s management training, there was a section asking:

What changes when you’re a manager?

Well, better question is:

What doesn’t change when you’re a manager??

The biggest change highlighted (and this resonates with my experience):

Your output is the output of your team, not you!

Yes, if you want to be a good manager, you have to get the team to work, not do the work yourself!

In essence, just this change in measuring your output flips from a lever you control that directly correlates to your output; to a lever that may correlate to your output.

Think about how much of a change that is to how you approach work and the people around you!
