The AWS Solutions team recently updated AWS Streaming Data Solution for Amazon MSK, an AWS Solutions Implementation that provides an automated configuration of the AWS services necessary to easily capture, store, process, and deliver streaming data.

This release adds support for IAM access control when creating the Amazon MSK cluster. By using IAM Access Control, customers no longer need to build and run one-off access management systems to control client authentication and authorization for Apache Kafka.

Also included is support for SASL/SCRAM authentication when creating the Amazon MSK cluster or when configuring an AWS Lambda function to read data from Amazon MSK. As such, username and password credentials are stored in AWS Secrets Manager. This implementation reduces the overhead of maintaining a traditional Apache Kafka authentication system, including: auditing, updating, and rotating client credentials.

Additional AWS Solutions are available on the AWS Solutions Implementation webpage, where customers can browse solutions by product category or industry to find AWS-vetted, automated, turnkey reference implementations that address specific business needs.
