Today, we are excited to announce support for AWS Cloud Digital Interface (AWS CDI) flows in AWS Elemental MediaConnect. A MediaConnect CDI flow allows you to build uncompressed video workflows in the AWS Cloud, using MediaConnect to link different products and services together into a virtualized live video production system. With MediaConnect CDI flows, you can build additional on-demand live video production capacity at a fraction of the cost of traditional on-premises capital investment, paying for transport only when you use it. MediaConnect CDI flows support uncompressed video transport up to UHD 2160p60 at a latency between nodes of only 1 frame.

In addition, MediaConnect CDI flows also support JPEG XS video input and output. This means that you can efficiently use AWS Direct Connect to bridge your on-premises SDI and SMPTE 2110 video networks to your Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) VPC live video networks. Using JPEG XS can reduce your cloud video bandwidth by up to 90% without sacrificing quality or latency.

We are also excited to announce that the AWS Elemental Live on-premises encoder now supports JPEG XS encoding and decoding in the 2.21.3 GA software release. This product is the perfect complement to MediaConnect to bridge your on-premises and cloud uncompressed video networks.

For information on how to use MediaConnect flows with AWS CDI, visit the MediaConnect documentation. To learn more about AWS Elemental Live JPEG XS connectivity, please visit the AWS Elemental Live documentation. For details on AWS CDI/JPEG XS pricing, please visit the MediaConnect pricing page.
