Real People, Real Stories Episode 2, 2021: Cara Conway from Paws with a Cause

Mark Miller, the host, and his producer Marissa speak with Cara Conway from Paws With A Cause®, a nonprofit that enhances the independence and quality of life for people with disabilities nationally through custom-trained Assistance Dogs. Cara regales Mark and Marissa with stories of real clients with disabilities like deafness or autism, and goes into the rigorous training process the dogs undergo before they’re matched with a client. She discusses the different types of dogs PAWS uses in its program and why they choose them, and shares information on what tasks the dogs can be trained to do to support their owners. The estimated cost for raising and training one of their assistance dogs is $35,000 and they are dependent on donations (there is no cost to the person receiving the dog); interested parties can donate via the link below.
