Today’s post includes those releases and updates that have come out since December 8, 2020, including updates to Percona Distributions for MySQL and PostgreSQL and new features in Percona XtraBackup.
Percona Distribution for MySQL 8.0.22 (PS Variant)
On December 14, 2020, Percona Distribution for MySQL 8.0.22 (PS Variant) was released. Percona Distribution for MySQL provides two deployment variants: one is based on Percona Server for MySQL and another one is based on Percona XtraDB Cluster. It is a single solution with the best and most critical enterprise components from the MySQL open source community, designed and tested to work together.

Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL 11.10
Percona Distribution for PostgreSQL 11.10 was released on December 15, 2020. It is a collection of tools to assist you in managing PostgreSQL, installing and complementing it by a selection of extensions that enable solving essential practical tasks efficiently. This release is based on PostgreSQL 11.10 and includes pg_stat_monitor (Tech Preview Feature – a new statistics collection extension for PostgreSQL.)

Percona Server for MySQL 8.0.22-13
December 14, 2020, saw the release of Percona Server for MySQL 8.0.22-13. It includes all the features and bug fixes available in MySQL 8.0.22 Community Edition in addition to enterprise-grade features developed by Percona. New features and improvements in this release are the implementation of user-defined functions for Point-in-time Recovery in PXC operator and the creation of a set of C++ classes/macros that would simplify the creation of new user-defined functions. There are also several bug fixes, which can be reviewed in the release notes.

Percona XtraBackup 8.0.22-15.0
We released Percona XtraBackup 8.0.22-15.0 on December 14, 2020, which enables MySQL backups without blocking user queries, making it ideal for companies with large data sets and mission-critical applications that cannot tolerate long periods of downtime. It is a free open source solution. New features for this release include preventing backup if the Source system (DB) version is higher than the current version and the support for storage_class option with –storage=s3. In addition, there has been a redesign of lock-ddl-per-table.
