Amazon FSx for Lustre Now Supports AWS Graviton2-based Instances
Amazon FSx for Lustre now enables you to use the world’s most popular high-performance file system from Amazon EC2 instances powered by Arm-based AWS Graviton2 processors. This capability makes it easier and even more cost-effective to run workloads where speed matters, such as machine learning, gaming, electronic design automation, high-performance computing, video processing, and financial modeling.
Amazon FSx for Lustre file systems are accessed from Linux-based instances using an open-source Lustre client. Starting today, the Amazon Linux 2 Amazon Machine Images (AMI) will include Lustre clients for Amazon EC2 instances powered by the AWS Graviton2 processors. The Lustre client is also now available for AWS Graviton2-based EC2 instances running the Ubuntu operating system.
AWS Graviton2-based Amazon EC2 instances deliver up to 40% better price performance over comparable current generation x86-based instances. Amazon FSx for Lustre further enhances the price performance of using AWS Graviton2-based EC2 instances by providing cost-effective and ultra-fast storage that can be shared across compute instances and that’s designed to ensure data access keeps up with compute speeds. FSx for Lustre provides access to data with sub-millisecond latencies, up to hundreds of gigabytes per second of throughput, and millions of IOPS.
