I joined Couchbase as Chief People Officer in January 2019, and it’s been an incredible journey ever since. Each day, I’m inspired by the work we do here. Our collective mission isn’t about easy wins, it’s about channeling our passion to solve hard problems so customers can innovate and change the world. I take pride in knowing our true purpose is greater than personal aspirations and corporate missions, although those are important – it really starts with making life better for everyone we care about.

We all have the privilege to carry on the original vision of our Co-Founder Steve Yen’s wish of finally building a database that doesn’t suck.  Although simply stated, creating such elegance in a product that has distinctive differentiation from hundreds of competitors is easier said than done.

Since 2011, we’ve been building a world-class company, product suite, and team with unwavering fortitude and a steady vision. The path to greatness is never linear or easy.

Couchbase has delivered, and continues to deliver, sustained differentiation versus the products from our competition. Additionally, we carry the torch together to build a profitable, time tested company, none of which is possible without a world class team driving customer outcomes.

That said, I am most encouraged to be part of a team that values each other as we do. Our Couchbase team starts with our world class people.  It’s clear that we proudly wear our ‘Couchbase Red’ while making the world better tomorrow than it was today.  Doing what we do is no small feat as it takes vision, courage and passion.  We are not afraid to attack hard problems. We don’t get excited about going after easy wins.  Our game is channeling our collective genius to solve the industry’s hardest problems so customers can innovate and rely on Couchbase as a trusted partner in delivering business critical applications to millions of end users. Most of all, I take pride in knowing our true purpose is greater than career aspirations and corporate missions – it’s about making life better for everyone we care about.

Certainly, one of my fondest career experiences was when I had the privilege to lead a project in which Couchbase employees put into words what it means to be on team Couchbase. It’s my hope that we’ve become an asset to so many because our values and goals are aligned, and because we see amazing long-term benefits of working alongside people we trust and respect.

Without further ado, here are our Couchbase Values:

Be A Great Human, Always.

Act With Uncompromising Integrity, Period.

Serve Your Family, As Defined By You.

Attack Hard Problems, Driven By Customer Outcomes.

Play To Win, Together.

Make Tomorrow Better Than Today, Start Now.

So let’s win together as we continue to build a company that has NoEQUAL.
