Suggestions for application using TMDB

I am in process for creating a movie details(kindof) app using Java Spring Boot using API from TMDB.

It already has a API library written in Java.

Should use this Library directly in my application. Since it will be backbone for all the things. Is relying on this library good ? or should I write my code from scratch.

This is a project that I am building for my portfolio.
