We proudly present Kt. Academy Portal
Kt. Academy grows quickly and has more and more different authors, reviewers and community members. Although we enjoy writing good articles, we also think about how to satisfy other needs of the Kotlin community. So we identified some important problems and we’ve decided to help to solve them:
- It is not easy to stay in touch with news about Kotlin — you can observe on Twitter, but it is time-consuming and filled with noise. Also, blogs mostly describe new ideas and solutions of some problems instead of giving news about the state of technology. What we would prefer is a small set of important news about Kotlin.
- We like challenges and we want to feel that we develop in programming — this need can be satisfied by some puzzlers or portal with programming challenges. Although puzzlers are normally collected in some Github repos, searching for them is not something we would do during a metro ride or five minutes waiting. Similarly, programming challenge portals are more like the big game instead of a short way to fill 5 minutes during a ride. We would prefer a small app that gives new puzzler once for a while.
Since Kt. Academy already had the portal that was made as an example multiplatform Kotlin application, we discovered that this two functionalities can be easily added there! This is why today we are proud to announce that Kt. Academy now supports both news from Kotlin, and puzzlers. Here is a link:
How does it look like:

Proposing
Everyone has something to offer. This is why we’ve decided to allow everyone to propose infos or puzzlers (as well as to submit articles). The procedure is very simple. You just need to use FAB in the right-bottom corner:

Then you will be able to use the form to submit your news or puzzler. Once submitted, it waits for our acceptation. Don’t worry, we will confirm it and publish or decline in less than 24h ;)

Open-source
Yes, the project is open-source and you can find it on Github. Feel invited for contribution :) If you look for something to do, check out our Waffle.
Tips how to use it
- If your project compiles and you have 5 minutes you want to spend for some entertainment, instead of politics or funny images, consider news and puzzlers on Kt. Academy portal. You will have less stress and it is very likely you will learn something important ;)
- When you are waiting for something, for instance when you ride by bus, instead of wasting this time consider challenging yourself on Kt. Academy portal. Check if you can solve newest puzzlers or if you have known about important news from Kotlin world.
- Sign in to newsletter also, so you will be able to check out news in your own time, and you will be sure that you won’t miss anything.
- Become an author! If you have an idea for puzzler, or you’ve heard about something important that hasn’t been described on Kt. Academy portal yet, propose and become an author. Every author can sign himself and leave a link to his website (Twitter, Github or anything else you want to show to others).
