AWS Security Hub is now generally available

Posted on: Jun 24, 2019

Amazon Web Services Inc. (AWS) announced the general availability of AWS Security Hub, a new security service that provides customers a comprehensive view of both their compliance with the security standards and their high priority AWS security alerts, or findings. Customers simply turn on Amazon Security Hub in the AWS Management Console, and the service immediately begins conducting automated and continuous compliance checks, providing a comprehensive and timely view of a customer’s overall security and compliance status.

AWS Security Hub also automatically aggregates, normalizes, and prioritizes findings from AWS services, including Amazon GuardDuty, Amazon Inspector, and Amazon Macie, and from 30 AWS partner security solutions. Security Hub brings these findings together in a single dashboard that consolidates them into easy-to-understand and actionable graphs and tables and correlates findings across providers to help prioritize which resources require remediation actions.

Security Hub launched in public preview at re:Invent 2018. Since then various features have been added to the service including sending all findings automatically to Amazon CloudWatch Events for response and remediation actions, improving the actionability of compliance findings, tag-based access control and cost allocation, and AWS CloudFormation support.

AWS Security Hub is available in 15 commercial regions, and has undergone PCI, HIPAA, ISO, and SOC certifications.
